Privacy

Privacy, in plain English.

Chortal is an early, soft-launch product, and we wanted a privacy page that's honest and specific instead of long and vague. Here's how data actually works in Chortal today.

What Chortal is (and isn't)

Chortal is a chore and allowance tracker. It is not a debit card, a bank account, or a money-movement service. We don't link to your bank, we don't issue cards, we don't move funds, and we don't collect the financial information that would require — no SSN, no routing numbers, no KYC. Earnings, savings, and spending inside Chortal are tracked numbers, not real-world transactions.

What we collect

To run your family's account we store the parent's email address, the first names or nicknames you give your kids, the chores and allowance rules you set up, and the earnings/savings/spending activity you and your kids record. On this marketing site we use cookieless analytics to count visits — no personal profile, no cross-site tracking, no advertising IDs.

Who processes data on our behalf

Chortal runs on a small set of third-party services that necessarily touch some of your data:

  • Supabase — hosts our database, handles parent-account authentication, and sends transactional email (sign-in, account recovery).
  • Netlify — serves this marketing site as static files.
  • Plausible — cookieless analytics; counts visits, doesn't build a profile of you.
  • Google Fonts — serves typography over Google's CDN, which sees your IP address on first visit.

Kids and parental control

Chortal is built around the parent account. Parents create the family, add kids as profiles, and approve activity. Kids do not have their own login or email account; they access their profile through a PIN that the parent sets. We don't collect personal information from children directly, and there is no chat, social, or community feature where kids interact with anyone outside their family.

Deleting your account

Email privacy@chortal.app and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 30 days. We don't run an automatic inactivity deletion — your data stays where you left it until you ask us to remove it.
